CANON 5d MK IV

There is no doubt about it, this is one mighty camera and it has been responsible for a transformation in my photography since the end of 2020. Don’t get me wrong, there are smaller and lighter cameras on the market now and I was very tempted with but the 5D IV has lots of life left in it yet. The dynamic range is superb and gives you the ability to pull lots of detail back from the depths of your histogram. This will be my workhorse camera for a long time yet.

CANON 16-35mm F/4 IS USM

This was the first ‘real’ piece of glass that I invested in back at the end of 2019. I’d estimate that 75% of my photographs have been taken with this lens attached. Combine this with the full frame 5D and you’ll probably get as wide an angle as you’ll need for the majority of landscapes. Not only a great lens for stills but more importantly recently, video. The built in stabiliser makes it possible to use this handheld for any vlogs that I make out in the field. Better still, it’s incredibly lightweight. A must have lens for all kinds of photography, in my opinion.

CANON 24-105mm F/4 IS II USM

The most recent addition to my arsenal of camera lenses, this has quickly become my go-to piece of glass for every environment. The focal length range means that you could leave the house with this lens only and be able to cover pretty much everything. Great for landscapes, and I’ve even managed to use it for some wildlife photographs while on the go. This is a lens that does exactly what it says on the tin.

CANON 70-200mm F/4 IS USM

Waving this around with the lens hood attached will draw all sorts of attention to you and make you look like you definitely know what you’re doing. One elderly lady’s words to me while walking through my local town, ‘oh, are you a professional? You must be with a lens like that’. Of course, size isn’t everything as we all know gents. When used correctly though, this lens is fantastic and it’s a must have, especially for trips into the mountains, allowing you to snipe those sunlit ridges.

DJI MAVIC AIR 2 FLY MORE COMBO

A game changer. No other words for it. I’ve always wanted to be able to see how an eagle sees and now I can. Not only does it take epic photos but the video capabilities are unbelievable. I haven’t been able to stop using it for cinematic footage since I bought it towards the start of 2021. I was supposed to be being frugal after launching my business and then this happened but to be honest, I’ve had my moneys worth already.
